Connection Subgrids (Opportunity)

Hi,

There's a number of Subgrids on the Opportunity Form that are effectively Connection Subgrids e.g. Stakeholder, Competitors etc.

The questions is, if you are to create your own Custom Connection Subgrid within an Entity, are you able to configure it OOB so you can create Records for another Entity? For example, the Stakeholder Subgrid has the + that allows you create a Contact Record. How does it know to create a Contact Record?

If you create a Connection Subgrid of Opportunities from within the Contact Entity the + isn't available, which to me makes sense as how would it know what Entity to create a Record for. Are the Connection Subgrids on the Opportunity uniquely developed to serve a specific purpose?

    JDM,

If you go into Business Management>Connection Roles, you can define what specific entities to be linked together for specific connection roles.

    Hi,

Unfortunately the OOTB Connections sub grid on those entities is a 'special' subgrid that you cannot re-use on other entities.

I've written a free extension that provides a similar experience that you can use on custom entities - community.dynamics.com/.../refreshed-connections-ui-solution

This also explains the limitation you are seeing.

    Hope this answers your question!

    Thanks Scott, thought as much.

I'll take a look at the extension, many thanks!

    Hi,

    Thank you for your input.

Does this still working in D365 V.9 ?

    Hi All,

Thank you for sharing this tool, it is working perfect with V. 9.X, I have tried to implement it in Unified Interface, but it seems that it is not working.

The grid gets added, but the "+" and "delete" buttons don't do any actions, anyone who has implemented for Unified Interface with success?

Great tool Scott!  However, when I added this to the Opportunity form, when I click '+' button and any other button on the web resource, nothing happens.  I am on D365 online latest version 9.x.  Has anybody else experienced this?

I am experiencing the same issue with the Unified Interface v.9.  Adds Box with Plus sign, but not connections grid.
