GP SRS Reports - modify in Report Designer

Posted on by 4,887

I have deployed SRS reports and see the reports via report manager.

I would like to modify the existing report using SRS Report Designer but can not find where those reports are stored.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks - I got it. I just added the rdl to an existing project and worked with the data connections......

I'm able to edit it. I assume I'll be able to deploy after I'm done......I'll definitely give it a unique name....

I would still like to know where GP stores the actual project folders for the deployed reports..........

    Regards,

Grant and Mike - Thanks for your response.

I need further assistance. When I click edit - edit - the system prompts to save the file - I save the file with a different name........the system saves it as a .rdl extension.

When I open in Visual Studio Tools all I see is the xml text of the report. How to I get it to open in a design mode?

    I'm sure it's something simple.....

Thanks for using the forums. I'd add just a little more to the above--you are going to want to save your edited SRS reports with a different name, as the SRS Report Deployment Wizard will overwrite them when you deploy reports next time. You may also need to fixup the datasource or model references once you've modified the report--that's a fairly easy thing to fix.

I'm not sure where the actual folder location is but if you want to start work on the report(s) immediately, you can browse to the report location in SRS > click Show Details > Edit > Edit and the save the file, work on it in VS and then upload it back into SRS through the Edit area as well (believe it is "Update").  Remember to have a back-up of the report before performing any work!
