Tabel list for Business Central

Hi Experts,

I hope you are able to help me.
Can you provide a list of tables in Business Central?
If this list also can give an insight in the data in each table it would be great.

I have an ODBC access to query tables from our Business Central via the program 'Microsoft Query'.

Currently I am looking for the data in section 'Inventory' on the item card.
Specificly the field 'Customer No.'.
This information is not stored in the table 'Item'.

I know it is possible to export (and import) data via the function 'Configuration Packages' but this is not what I am looking for.

Thanks in advance.
Have a nice day.

Best Regards Naja

The Table Information page gives you a list of tables per company.
There's no official documentation about the data model or Er-diagram, however this might help:

The inventory field on the Item table is an example of a FlowField, it calculates the sum of quantity in the Item Ledger Entry table. To understand you will require some development knowlege in BC: The Business Central Developer Learning Journey (businesscentralbooster.com)

Do not go directly to the SQL database On Prem. Because in BC Saas you do not get access to the SQL database it would make your solution not BC Saas compatible. Instead use the APIs or develop net APIs.

Out Power BI Booster trainings also cover this in detail:

You can see the same from Visual Studio Code

The only table information that can be obtained in the Business Central client is what you see in the Configuration Package. As Steven mentioned, you can only access real tables in SQL by opening them in local SQL, and SaaS does not support them. And the data in SQL is more complex, for example, you need to manually merge table extensions.

In addition, even if you can see all tables, when linked through external tools, such as Power Bi, you still need to publish them as an API page or web service.

    Hope this helps as well.
    Thanks

    Thank you all for answers.
Now I know there is no official documentation on BC-tables.

As mentioned I use an ODBC access to query tables via the program 'Miscrosoft Query' and it works fine.

However I still haven't found in which table the 'Customer No' on the Item Card is located.
If anyone knows it will be very helpful for me.

    Thanks.

    Best regards Naja
