Dumb Question - ADP Import

(0) ShareShare

Running GP10SP5.  I see where an ADP comma delimited file can be imported (Tools>Integrate>Import from ADP) but, and this may seem like a dumb question, but if companies are not using Payroll how are they supplying ADP with the data for them to create this file for companies to import?  In other words, what do companies do to track employee time if they are not using Payroll.  Thanks.

    Hello,

There is utility for ADP to Payroll and it imports only GL transactions. Here is KB article support.microsoft.com/.../866501 . You need to talk to your partners/Microsoft to know more about this.

Whereas I have developed utility(don't have code now) that import all Payroll Data into Dynamics GP but you need to have Payroll in GP. I can help you to build one again... lol.

    Thanks

HI Sandip, I understand how to get the data into GP.  I'm asking how to supply the data to ADP in order for them to send me back a file.  What are companies using to provide their employee time, pay rate, etc. to ADP each pay period.  Somehow this info must be tracked. And if I'm only importing the data directly into the GL where/how is the data originating?  Online time cards?

You can check out this link www.jatnet.com/microsoft_dynamics_JPI.htm if you want to be running payroll in GP but them transfer your payroll data to ADP and pass the responsibilty of payroll reporting to the IRS to ADP. This is the reverse of what is nornally done where you simply ask ADP to process your payroll and give you a CSV file that is full of nothing but ledger entries. With the JAT solution you have all the payroll information in your system and then can provide pay history, W-2's and other information directly to your employees. Clients go one way or the other. They process their own payroll and report to the IRS or they have ADP handle all the payroll processing and reporting to the IRS and just get ledger entries. The JAT solution now mixes the two and allows the client to have the payroll data but have ADP report to the IRS. It is a very elegant solution.
