Mapping lookup fields

Posted on by 52

Hi,

I have a custom field called Scope (Data Type-Lookup) on two entities, say, Entity1 and Entity2. Entity2 is created off a subgrid on Entity1. I want the Scope field to auto populate on the quick create form for Entity2. I  added this field to the mapping to a 1:N relationship between Entity1 and Entity2, and published the customization. This field however is not populating.  As a test, I created a text field and mapped it between the two entities, that seem to work perfectly. How to make mappings work for lookup fields?

Thanks,
SR

I figured it out! It was really basic.. I had to save the parent form before creating the child record. I assumed that the auto save feature was working and saving my changes.

That's exactly what I am doing. I am creating "Record Bid" entity record from the "Bid" entity and need the fields to map from Bid to Record Bid. A text field is copying over but not a lookup field.

I have the correct field mapping.

I'm not sure if I understand the "create records from associated view" part. Could you elaborate please.

    Thanks,

    SR

Highlighted below is the field that I want to be auto populated from the Bid entity to the Record Bid entity. As you can see a text field called TestName is auto populating from the Job Name field but not the ScopeLookup field.

    And here is the mapping.

You have to create records from associated view to populate mapping data.

If you are doing this then make sure that you have correct field mapping.
