Dynamics CRM 2011 Update Rollup 12v2: Copy and Paste from CRM dropping carriage return to 3rd party apps

Hi All,

Have posted this question in the Social forums but thought I would post in the community forums to see what you all thought.

Just thought I would like to report a strange problem we encountered after upgrading to Dynamics CRM Update Rollup 12v2. This was not a problem in Rollup 11.

From time to time we like to copy and paste data from the CRM into other applications like notepad, word etc.

Here is the problem.

I have a text field. This text field / box can be in any entity it does not matter.

The text field has the following data:

Line1
Line2
Line3
Line4

What I than do is highlight all four lines and right click to copy. I than go into Notepad right click and go paste. This is what it ends up like.

Line1Line2Line3Line4

Back in the days of CRM 4.0 I know we had a similar bug with the carriage return being dropped in emails and Microsoft resolved this. It looks like the bug is back with a vengance.

To add more strangeness to this bug. It copy and pastes fine if you paste the data within another CRM text box.

Has anyone else tried to copy and paste from a text field with carriage returns in it in CRM 2011 Rollup 12v2 to other applications like Notepad, Word, or any 3rd party app. If so please report back what your findings.

Update:

This bug only occurs in Internet Explorer. I have tried to replicate the problem in Firefox because now with Rollup 12 Dynamics 2011 is multi browser ready and the problem does not exist in Firefox.

Microsoft help!!

Further Update.

I have isolated the problem to the new settings Microsoft has introduced in Rollup 12v2.

The setting is located within Administration -> System Settings -> Customization -> Document Mode -> Load Pages in the most recent version of internet Explorer.

In my scenario I am running Internet Explorer 9 on Windows 7 Professional. With the above option enabled the carriage return is dropped when you copy a text field from CRM 2011 into a 3rd party app.

To resolve the problem I had to disable the option, than from within Internet Explorer I had to enable compatibility view on my Dynamics CRM installation. Once I did that the bug was gone.

Microsoft please resolve this issue as I would like to run Dynamics CRM 2011 Rollup 12v2 in Native Internet Exporer 9 without having to resort to cheap fixes.

This bug is annoying.

Further update Part 2

This bug does not exist in Windows 8 with Internet Explorer 10. I just checked our virtual machine box for testing purposes and this bug does not exist.
