So I can quick search results returns accounts correctly, except recently create records.

I know those records are active. can see them in the active view. Just the Quick Search somehow can't see them.

Advance Find on accounts works fine.

Any idea what could be going wrong? Or what should I be checking?

Can you clear the browser cache and try again? Also make sure the field that you are searching on is added to the 'Find columns' in the Quick Find view

    Shennu,

Can you check the Quick Find Search View criteria?

By Default Quick Find View of Accounts is showing only Active Account with the searched keyword.

Can you check the Quick Find View Active Account.

    Edit Filter Criteria

    Thank you.

Thanks Mamatha and Aileen for your sugestsions.

I have cleared browser cached and tried again, no luck.

I have an issue with checking the Find columns and the Filter Criteria on Quick Find View of Account. the solution contains the account entity is a managed one, so I can't open the view in that solution.

Had quick look in the defualt solution, now it's interesting the Quick Find View of Account Entity there has no filter criteria, and no find column is ticked. - is this right?

Anyway, I wouldn't want to change it in the default solution. Whatever I have found in the default solution can't be the setting in the managed solution, right? Otherwise the Quick Search won't return any results.

Finally Aileen, the recently created records which can't be found by the Quick Search are definitely Active records.

    Weird, huh?

RE: Quick Search on Active Account can't find recently created records

    Shennu,

Can you give screenshot your quick find view Filter criteria?

You can open through customization -> Account --> View --> Quick Find View?

Hm..did your org use the SQL direct query before?

I face that issue, it was because the client did direct update using direct SQL Query, make the status and status reason were having different value and make it mess.

So, perhaps you can try to include both status and status reason into the form, check your filter criteria in case the status based on those value, by default is based on status only.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

RE: Quick Search on Active Account can't find recently created records

    Aileen,

I have eventually found the reason why the Account Quick search returns some records but not others.

Bascially on our UAT org the Quick Find Active Accounts view >> Find Columns was set to some customized columns which was empty values on those records.

A process was not running to populate those column values basically.

Many thanks for your help and suggestions.

    Hi Shennu.

Now, it does make sense, so that why previously I was asking you to "Can you check the Quick Find View Active Account." and "check your filter criteria" just in case there are some additional customization applied :)

    Thank you.

RE: Quick Search on Active Account can't find recently created records

    Aileen,

    absolutely!

This does lead to couple of other questions that are not so clear in my mind. Maybe you could shed some light?

    1. Does customizations of a Managed Solution writes to the default solution at all?

In the other word, I can always trust whatever customization I can see from the default solution that other managed solution layer on top of it?

    2. In an org, first we import a managed solution (solutionA) which has Account View Quick Find Active Accounts >> Find Columns set to Account Name and Address1. Along with some other cusomizations of Account forms. we then created a new solution (solutionB), brought in Account Entity, and on the Account View Quick Find Active Accounts >> Find Columns  unticked the Account Name and Address1 and ticked "Some other" columns. Now we export the solutionB as managed, then import 1. solutionA then 2. solutionB to another org. I was expecting that the org which has both managed solution of A and B have all the find columns for Quick Find Active Accounts view from both solution A and B? however in my case, that the find columns was only set to those was found in solutionB makes me wonder how exactly CRM applies managed solutions and how it handles conflicts from various solutions?

Sorry to go on for a bit, it would be great if you could point me to the right track regarding the above 2 questions.

    Many thanks in adv.

RE: Quick Search on Active Account can't find recently created records

    Hi Shennu,

    1. Yes, all the customization you can see through Default Solution.

    You can see this example:

I have a solution, it's managed one, the one and always I use, Ribbon Workbench

    2. Solution A and Solution B all have Account entity as component?

And Solution B is the latest one? So, it would make solution B is the winner.

    Thanks.

RE: Quick Search on Active Account can't find recently created records

    Hi Shennu,

Here are some notable points which will help you with managing Solutions in Dynamics CRM

    1. Yes, all the Customizations are written down to the Default Solution, so you can always trust what you see there.
    2. The effect of importing a Managed solution is different from importing an Unmanaged solution and the effects are different on different types of Solution Components. When you import a Solution that modifies an existing Solution Component which has already been customized, then there is a potential conflict, which you are speaking about. Dynamics CRM resolves conflict with two strategies
      • Merge and
      • Top Wins

Merge is a strategy which is applied to User Interface like Views, Forms and Ribbons. Merge Conflict Resolution means that the final outcome of these User Interface is calculated based on

Default Solution >then> Managed Solution >then> Unmanaged Solution

    Top Wins
strategy applies to all Solution Component other than User Interface. The final outcome is calculated based on

Default Solution >then> Managed Solution >then> Unmanaged Solution  ****

**** In the order they were imported. The outcome is in favour of the Customizations that was applied last ****

Now lets see on Conflict Resolution for updates to Managed Solutions

The Merge Conflict resolution strategy (as discussed above) says that any Customizations to the User Interface in the Unmanaged Layer will resolve in favour of Managed Solutions.

This is the reason you get to choose whether you want to maintain or overwrite user interface customization that have bee applied to the unmanaged solution.

    Hope that helps

    Thanks
