Product attributes question

Hello community,

I would like to know about the use cases of product attributes.

I understand they can be created and assigned to products through Procurement or retail category in order to maintain additional product characteristics without having to create new customized fields.

Is there any additional way to use them? On an inquiry, order or a report?

Hi, manage attributes and attribute groups has mentioned in the MS document. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/commerce/attribute-attributegroups-lifecycle

You can inspect page to find that the product attributes data is from the EcoResAttribute table. If you want to show them on the report or the order, you can custom it and add such field from that table.

Hy,

basically these standard attributes are used to describe the properties of a product. In standard F&O it is not displayed on the documents oob, but it can be used to generate descrptive text blocks to be displayed on output documents, also in combination with attribiute groups. The standard product attributes support all needed languages as well !

For retail it is used within e-commerce processes for selection and search for products on websites and stores.

Furthermore within the Engeneering Change Management module you can handle "engineering attributes" that can be understood as a technical specification and can also be used for product search within F&O, but it is another kind of attributes as the product attributes. Product attributes are characteristics that describe a product.

Standard attributes include things like size, color, style, and configuration.

If you need additional, non-standard information about your products, you can create custom fields and associate them with the product table

Those that you have listed are Product dimensions, not attributes.

My question was on attributes and inqury forms and reports or processes they are used in, in the system, as I found the information provided on this quite limited.

Hi,

Product attributes, if you are referring to the below option from the Released Products screen then a classic example of a product is liquor that can be classified by alcohol content, packs (a pack of 6 bottles), by pack types etc.

Another example is chocolates that can be sold in boxes, or as individual units (depending on the locations or the target customers) or in packs etc.

It determines the manner in which a product can be stocked, sold or procured.
