Assembly instructions on BOM and Works orders

Hi All,

is there a way to add a simple assembly instructions in D365FO to the BOM or BOM version which will flow to the Works order and ideally be printed on the Picking list? This could be as simple as 2-3 lines with short text like - Put the goods in the double bag; Seal the bag using XXX tool, etc.

I know how to achieve that using Routes and print it on the Route cart but would there be any similar functionality when the company operates in more simplistic setup and using BOMs only?

All suggestions are highly appreciated, thanks.

one of the way is to use attachments on FG and RM items and extended to link the Production order as well as picking list provide the details to users

My initial hope was to find some solution in standard application before we take on the extension route.

Hi Mike,

You might try use the attachment on BOM Lines -- eg.: by using any dimension field -- and after Picking List is created, open it and just select any Dimension field from the lines.

The attachment will be there to be used (can be a Note or file).

Bom lines, selecting Dimension field: Configuration

Production Order > Picking List lines > for the proper line, select Configuration field and the attachment or note will be available:
