What is the default Close Date field when closing an opportunity as Won or Lost?

I can't seem to find which field under the Opportunity stores the Close Date when closing an Opportunity as both Won and Lost.

Does anyone know?

I think I found it "Actual Close Date" but this only populated the date you close the opportunity.  If I enter a past date into the close date on the opportunity close dialog I can't find where that shows up?

Opportunity does have a actualclosedate field.

So Actual Date looks like it will always populate the date that the opportunity closes, but it if a different date is entered in the Opportunity Close Dialog it won't store it.  Does that date go into a field somewhere?

It will override it if you really close it.
