Understanding the "Promised Delivery Date" Field in a 'Sales Order' – What, How, and Why?

I'm trying to understand the Promised Delivery Date in Sales Order. I have few questions on it:
  1. What does this field represent exactly? How is it different from other date fields present in Sales Order?
  2. How is this field populated? Is it manually entered, automatically calculated, or updated based on other fields?
  3. Why is this field important in the system? Does it states anything regarding the Sales Order?
I have the same question (0)

The Promised Delivery Date in Sales Order is the date when the company confirms that the goods will be delivered to the customer.

Requested Delivery Date is when the customer wants the order.
Planned Delivery Date is when the system thinks the order can be delivered.
Shipment Date is when the order will leave the warehouse.
And Promised Delivery Date is the final date the company agrees to deliver.

It can be entered manually, and its important because it tells the customer when they will get their order. and it can help company plan shipments and stock.

    Hope it helps
    Thanks

    Hi,

The Promised Delivery Time is calculated based on the Shipping Delivery Time, Estimated Production Time, and the time required to fulfill an order.

    1. This field is there for informational purposes, as the name implies, its when you promised the customer that they will receive the goods

    2. It's manually populated

    3. It's there as an additional piece of information you can add to the order. There are several order date fields on the order, some of which are calculated by the system automatically.
