Hi all,
What is best practice for handling rework on production orders? Currently after RAF, the items go into Quality assurance. Any items that fail need to either be reworked or need to produced again?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hy Antigonie,
for those which need to be reproduced as new you should create a regualr production order with BOM and Route, but ensure that the defectice items are posted to scratch as this has ffinanciel impact.
For those which can be reworked I would do it as written before, create productiopn order without BOM and route, Add produced Item to BOM and add the rework as operations to the route.
Hi Andre,
So the production process involves branding items. This includes embroidering, printing and branding on t-shirts, engraving books, printing on mugs etc. So once items are RAF'd in production, they will get receipted into a quality assurance. Any items that fail need to either be recreated from scratch(as in reprint on a new blank t-shirt) or they can be reworked(embroidery items can be reworked).
So i just would like to know what the best practice would be for reworking the items, or restarting new ones from scratch?
Hi Antigonie,
The solution provided by Andreas is for sure an option. To be able to comment better, can you describe the type of product, rework and who the rework should execute and where? Is it on the same production line? Please tell about your process.
Hy Antigonie,
there are several other question about rework prodcution orders community.dynamics.com/.../366091
For the moment there is no out of the box function for production orders, even rework is OOB available at batch orders.
I would
- create a new production order for the Item number to rework
- don't select a BOM at create production order form
- don't select a Route at create production order form, except there is rework route available yet
- option you can set it to a productopn pool for "rework orders"
- In production order select BOM and insert your rework item number and quantity
- In production order select Route and insert the operations you need to rework
After this steps it should work as a usual production order.
Picking list for rework item, Route operations for rework and Report as Finished the reworked Item.
