Inventory Discontinued Items and Year End Close

Hi

Hopefully a simple Yes/No here - I can't seem to find anything that specifically tells me this.

I know that you can remove discontinued items with the Inventory Year End and all the specifics about whether it is on a BOM, in a Kit etc.

Question I need answered is if there are transactions in the year you are about to roll, will the item be removed?

I.e.  Fiscal year 1 July 2010 - 30 June 2011.  Transactions have happened in August 2010, item marked discontinued prior to year end roll.  Will year end roll remove the item?

Cheers

Heather

No, if there are any transactions on an item, it will not be removed unless you delete the transaction history first.

    Hope this helps,

    Hi Frank

The removal of discontinued items during year end close removes transaction history also as per all the documentation.  What is not clear is whether the it will remove the items and transaction history if it relates to the year you are about to roll.

So just to confirm, it won't remove the item and associated transactions if the transactions are in the year you are about to roll, but it will remove if the transactions are in prior years only?

    Cheers

That's correct Heather.  It will remove items that have prior year activity but it won't remove items that have activity in the current year you're about to close, which makes sense because if you haven't had any transactions on an item in a year or more, chances are you won't in the future and vice versa if you have had activity in the past year.

Great thanks Frank - I thought that was the case but couldn't find confirmation of it.

    Much appreciated.
