I am posting transactions Opening Balances and other JVS showing in Ledger Entries but not showing in Posted General Journal ?

    By default, the "Posted General Journal" functionality is not activated. To enable it, go to the "General Journal Templates" page and check the "Copy to Posted Jnl. Lines" field for the journal templates you want to save in the posted general journals page. Once this field is checked, any new journals you post will be automatically saved going forward. Unfortunately, the previously posted journals will not be copied over to the "Posted General Journal" page.

      • This is because Posted General Journal entries are typically intended to reflect only specific types of posted journals rather than every single general ledger entry.

    2. Opening Balance Journals:

      • Sometimes, Opening Balance journals, particularly those entered through data migration or special configurations, may not appear in the Posted General Journal form if they are posted directly to the ledger without being linked to a standard journal workflow.
      • This can happen if the opening balances are loaded through a separate process or import function, especially if these were created outside the standard journal posting flow.

    3. Custom Journals or Integration-Posted Entries:

      • If your system uses custom integrations, third-party add-ons, or custom journal setups to load data directly into the ledger, these entries may not appear in the Posted General Journal list.
      • Custom imports or integrations might bypass the standard journal posting process, which would lead to the entries showing in General Ledger Entries but not under Posted General Journal.

    4. Filtering or Security Roles:

      • Verify that there are no filters applied in the Posted General Journals view. Sometimes, pre-set filters can limit the view to only show certain types of journals.

      • Standard posted journals should appear in both Ledger Entries and Posted General Journals. However, if the posting was done directly in the GL without using a journal, the entries may only show in Ledger Entries.

    2. Check the Source of the Transactions:

      • Go to General ledger > Inquiries and reports > Voucher transactions. Look up the specific vouchers you posted as opening balances or JVs.
      • Verify the journal name and source. If the source is not linked to a standard journal, this may explain why it’s missing from Posted General Journals.

    3. Review Security Role Permissions:

      • Go to System administration > Security configuration and check the permissions for the Posted General Journal form. Ensure your user role has permission to view all journal types.
      • Sometimes, restrictive roles only allow access to specific journal types, which could limit what you see in the Posted General Journals form.

    4. Check Journal Names and Journal Types:

      • Some journals are configured with specific types, which can affect their visibility in certain forms. For example, journals marked as Opening Balance or Adjustment Journal might not show up in Posted General Journals depending on the configuration.
      • Check General ledger > Journal names > Journal names and verify the Journal type for each journal you’re using. Journals with types other than "General" may behave differently.

    5. Test with a New Journal Entry:

      • As a test, create a new General Journal entry (not an opening balance or adjustment entry) and post it.
      • Check if this entry appears in both General Ledger Entries and Posted General Journals. If this test entry appears in Posted General Journals, it indicates that the issue may be related to the specific type of journal or posting method you used for the other entries.

    Common Configuration Issues

    • Journal Types and Posting Profiles: If specific journal types are configured to post directly to the GL without going through the normal posting workflow, they may not appear in Posted General Journals.
    • System Customizations: Customizations or specific modules for data migration can alter the behavior of posted entries, making them skip the standard journal tracking.

    In short, entries that appear in General Ledger Entries but not in Posted General Journals are often directly posted to the ledger without going through the standard journal workflow.
