Outlook addin not connecting

Hello!  Hope all is well.

I am trying to use the CRM Outlook addin on my MAC using Parallels. (Outlook 2010 in a windows environment) I am trying to set up the Outlook CRM Client.

I am able to login to CRM via a web browser just fine.  When I run the configuration wizard, I always get the following error, "Cannot connect to Microsoft Dynamics CRM server because we cannot authenticate....."  Also, I am unable to run the Diagnostics Tool.  It starts to open then crashes every time.

Any ideas would be great please!

You'll want to take a look in the log file for a more detailed description of the error.  The log file is found in C:\Users\loggedInUser\AppData\Local\Microsoft\MSCRM

Open the log file and search for the word error starting from the bottom.  Read through the errors to learn more.

    Hi Donna,

Thank you for the quick reply.  My only problem is that the diagnostics tool will not load.  It crashes every time I try to open it.

I also took your advice and looked in that file.  There are 16 text documents.  The latest one must have 2000 lines and nothing in red.

    Ideas?

    Steve

I can't remember the exact name of the log file but look in the one that has the most recent modify date.  You won't find red font.  You need to search for the word error.   You can also post the log file and we'll take a look and see if we can find anything.  What update rollup do you have on the machine for the Outlook Client.

You can also have a look at this tool and see if it helps.  http://rc.crm.dynamics.com/rc/2011/en-us/online/5.0/outlook-troubleshooting.aspx

An added comment, please see below when I use the same web address as using CRM through a web browser:

Argh.  That did not work either... I registered my email address with Windows Live to no avail.

and you received a verification email and clicked the link in the verification email to verify your account? If you successfully completed all three of those steps and it is still not working, it is possible that you have some windows credentials interfering.  Look at the steps at the bottom of this article and complete all of them then try again.
