Landed cost module: Error - Voyage creator Can not split purchase order line because it is an intercompany order

Dear Madam/Sir,

Does someone have some experience with the following error in the D365 Landed cost module?

"Voyage creatorCan not split line number 3 of purchase order PO-XXXX because it is an intercompany order. Please create voyage for the full quantity."

The error occurs when purchase order lines are added to a voyage, but the quantity is less than the PO line. For example, the PO line was for 75pc, in the voyage/shipment there are only 25 loaded (50pc will come later). The line cannot be added with a partial quantity.

To me, I cannot find the logic in not allowing a partial shipment. Not all PO's are supplied in full at the same time, this goes for intercompany PO's as well.

Is there a setting that causes the error or something like that? The error only seems to occur with intercompany PO's.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts,

Koen

How about splitting the order lines first using the delivery scheduling tool and then add the split line.

    Dear Jose,

Thank you for your suggestion, I gave it a try as I was not aware of the 'Delivery schedule' function.

The Delivery schedule splits the PO line (view below) in the same way that I would expect the Landed cost module to split the PO line (with receipt of partial quantity).

The strange thing however is WHY the Landed Cost module gives an error on this intercompany order, while the Delivery Schedule allows the split without error.

I am thinking there must be some setting somewhere in the Landed Cost module ... but I cannot seem to find it.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you,

    Koen

If anyone has any ideas on this, I would love to hear. I am going through the Landed Cost module and all the documentation, but so far have not yet found any indication/setting which can explain why I cannot include a partial shipment quantity.

    Thank you for your help,

    Koen

    Hi Koen,

I encountered this issue back in September and spent sometime looking for a standard solution, however in the end we down the route of a modification (only a spec stage currently), as the standard workaround is too cumbersome.

The manual flow that we're automating, basically was when the partially shipped lines on the PO were invoiced, at this point the automation cancelled the delivery remainder on the ICPO and auto created a new line for the open balance, whilst maintaining the original price etc, this would in turn update the ICSO with the same. There were other considerations, but in short, this is the modification we've had to resort to.

we couldn't find an out of box solution.

hoping to be proven wrong :-)

in short, you're not alone on this query :-)

    Dear Adam,

Much appreciate your input on this and letting me know that I am not alone (haha) ... was thinking that I must have missed a setting somewhere.

I understand the logic of the workaround you are considering, unfortunately I do not see such a thing feasible for us in the short term.

    Kind regards,

    Koen

FYI, I have raised an 'Idea' for fixing this to Microsoft.

If you can, suggest you support the idea.
