create an externalID

Hi,

I'd like to know how to insert the externalID in a user that doesn't have it:

Is it possible to insert it, after a user is created? And why some users have it while others don't?

    Hi user9,

    why would you want to insert it? Do you have some business requirement related to this field?

    I think that this field is populated automatically when the user logs in for the first time. Not 100% sure but at least looking at the users in my system it seems like that.

    Hi.

    I don't think the "ExternalId" field has any practical impact anywhere in the system.

    While I am not entirely sure, it seems like the field is populated if a user is imported through the AAD and has been invited to that AAD as a guest. When the user logs on to the environment the field populates.
