Help with Sales -Jobs link

I am currently on a trial evaluating the system, it seems good.

However - My business quotes jobs to customers (mini projects) - so I want to quote as normal but not have any items or inventory or shipping.

Then when the customer orders this needs to match up to a job with lots of tasks and costs (linked to purchase orders). Nothing should be billed though as that is already done in the sales quote.

My desired flow is - quote - order - project (job - in costs and tasks) - profit anaylsis (Sales order minus project cost)

Its really confusing and I have watched lots of videos and guides but still cannot understand how to achieve this,

I have the same question (0)

There is a disconnect with the sales module and jobs in BC. You can however create a job quote:

Once jobs are in the system this can generate item demand where you need to make purchases. For this you can use the "Order Planning" feature, which will generate PO's or transfer orders based on the replenishment need of the item.

Jobs also enables you to assign resource based on availability.

In terms of analysis there are a few ways a job can process flow but from what you've suggested it would actually be Job Quote > Project > Costs > Sales Invoice. Your analysis would then be Sales Invoice value - Job Costs. This can be easily viewed in a job as it works on a basic concept of actual vs. budget and price vs. cost

Thanks! This is really helpful and makes sense.

I think I just need someone from Microsoft to help me understand the processes now and how to use the system.

For example - Assigning purchase orders/invoices to a job.

Ok. Well until you get the answer from MS I hope this satisfies your query on this community forum, where answers come solely from experienced users and professionals.

From a PO/PI perspective you have these fields at a line level:

Any postings made which make reference to the job then result in costs being drafted into the job. This in turn drives the budget vs. actual analysis I mentioned earlier.

Thanks, what I meant was my remaining queries were basic and really should be able to be answered by MS instead of taking up the valuable time of people on here.

    Hello,

Microsoft does typically only provide direct support to partners. These very good questions  you did raise can be directed to your partner or raised in this forum. There are also events where users, MVP's and partners do meet each other with or without the presence of Microsoft like the NAVUG. I (personally) did attend there as well a few times in the past. Most partners modify the basic BC user experience and add their own solution to it  so it could well be that things do work differently then what we see happening in the standard at our side. Therefore, your partner should be your first point of contact.

If there is a disconnect of what users think should be present in standard, then raise this as a product suggestion via https://aka.ms/bcideas .

    Thanks.
