Workflow doesn't run because of infinite loop

Hi,

I have a workflow on the opportunity entity that updates the Customer field whenever the Account field on the Opportunity is changed. The customer field is populated with the Account field value. However, the workflow does not run due to error "This workflow job was canceled because the workflow that started it included an infinite loop."

I'm not sure where the infinite loop is in this case? Any ideas?

    Hi Avneet,

I'm not positive, but if the Customer field trickles down to either the contact or account field, that would result in an infinite loop. Your triggers could also be mis-configured, which is causing the workflow to update the record, which runs the workflow....

Hope this helps! If so I'd appreciate if you'd mark this as a Verified answer.

    Thanks,

     Aiden

Aiden is right - if you update the Account, the customer field is updated as well - so this is causing the infinite loop.

The account and contact fields on an opportunity are a little confusing. If you have just an account or an account and contact set, then the customer field is the account. If you only have a contact then the customer field is set to the contact.

    Hope this helps,

    Hi Scott,

I have the same problem. I just double check and I only have one account.

And the customer field is lookup the account too.

Do you have any other solution can provide?

    Many thanks.

    CK
