custom qs params in crm?

Hello - I was curious, what's the general opinion on using custom qs params in CRM? Are there any scenarios where this is recommended? Does MS recommend a particular implementation pattern? Or are custom qs params in CRM considered unsupported?

Supported - you can use parameters passed via the querystring to open a new record pre-populated with values for example. Or you could create a custom parameter and check it during the OnLoad event of the form and perform some custom action.

Thanks Jason.  However, it seems like this could potentially cause conflicts?

For example, if I include a qs param named Param1, then what happens if the next version of CRM decides to include its own qs param named Param1 in the querystring?

Is there anything special about the way I should use custom qs params in CRM?  For example should I prefix all of my custom qs params with "new_"?

Any custom form parameters I believe are required to be prefixed with "parameter_" so any future versions f CRM should not utilize a parameter with one of your custom values.

Thanks Jason!  parameter_ is the default prefix but is not a strong constraint like "new_" for custom entity fields.  Is that the naming convention you follow when implementing custom querystring params?
