MRP behaviour in D365 if supply gets delayed

I have one question on D365FO MRP.

MRP based on the demand to plan for the supply (PO, planned or released WO). Under normal situation, vendors deliver the materials to us based on the MRP calculated PO request date, then everything works great. However, this is not real life situation. Our factories always have big challenging problem on the material PO delivery issue. Vendors cannot satisfy our request date, keep on changing their promised delivery date, and sometime they split PO ordered qty to multiple delivery.

For example, we have demand for FG1 100 pcs on July 15, 2021. Based on the long purchase lead time (sometime 3-6 months) on some material, we need to issue PO before the lead-time. If the below M1, M4, M6 and M8 keeps on changing (earlier or later) promised delivery dates:

How does MRP react to these kind of changing?

    Hi,

Do you want the date of production order will be changed after the PO delivery date is changed?

If so, you need to delete the firmed production order and re-run the master planning.

It is recommended to reserve the enough materials for this unstable supply chain.
