    Hi,

Upgrading from version 21.2.X.X of BC on-premises to a higher version like 24 or 25 depends on Microsoft’s supported upgrade paths, and it’s important to follow them to avoid compatibility issues.

    Here’s what’s possible:

    • According to Microsoft’s upgrade matrix, version 21 (2022 release wave 2) can be upgraded directly to version 24 or 25. You don’t need to go through 22 and 23 unless your solution has specific dependencies or customizations that require intermediate validation.
    • Before upgrading, make sure your current environment is stable and backed up. Then install the target version (24 or 25) on a test environment and run the upgrade toolkit provided by Microsoft. This includes schema synchronization, data upgrade scripts, and permission set migration.
    • If you're using configuration packages to migrate data, that’s more common for partial migrations or sandbox setups. For full upgrades, use the standard upgrade process: install the new version, run schema sync, and execute the data upgrade steps using PowerShell or the BC administration shell.
