Export Dynamic spreadSheet

Hi Experts,

I’m a new member of the forum.

We have a CRM instance used by users of the company and by external business Partners. We expose the application to the VPN to our BP but the Export Dynamic spreadsheet doesn't work for them. They are able to export the file but when the try to open it they got a SQL server access denied.

The reason of that is that once they run the xml file, this uses the current windows user to log-in to our SQL. Of course as the user is not recognized we have a SQL error.

Question is do we have a way to allow BP users to open Dynamic spreadsheet even if they are in a different domain? Running an excel instance with a different user doesn’t seem a valid option.

Thank you very much

    Hi

I would say to write a report using SSRS and share a link to the external users.

    Hi Gab,

Basically, the users are required to join domain, using the authenticated windows authentication from same domain as their User PC, otherwise you should implement IFD and claim based authentication, or if you allow the user to use SQL Authentication, but it will bypass the security + cannot use filteredview.

So if the users are not joining domain then the only supported Option is to Implement the IFD.

But, I got experience that 'it can be fixed' using Windows Credential Manager, example setting is you can see here (applicable also for Connect to MS Outlook as well)

    missdynamicscrm.blogspot.com/.../CRMforOutlookconnectionwithoutjoiningdomain.html

    community.dynamics.com/.../141588.aspx

That can be workaround, but it is not documented so it can be unsupported way.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

    Hi Vamshee,

This will reduce the flexibility of the Export. We would like to give to the BP the possibility to build their own "report" and do not give them fixed reports (we have couple).

    thanks

    Hi Gabriele

makes sense but can the client not export to static worksheet rather than dynamic?

Yes, but they would like to use dynamic export to avoid connecting evrytime to the CRM and just use the excel they created to extract data. :(
