Language pack stuffed after upgrading to service pack 4

I have recently upgraded RMS to service pack 4 and after doing so, the controls on the POS have gone haywire.

Now it seems the problem would be related to the language packs, however the release notes make no mention to needing to do anything with them before or after the upgrade.

Our POS screens are quite customised to suit our retail stores.

Has anyone run in this the before ?

If haywire means that the text on buttons, column headers etc have been changed to a random selection of RMS related text then this is a problem I had today after applying hotfix 28 KB2678120 (version 2.0.0163) on Windows 7 and XP (with SP4 at the same time and with SP4 applied much earlier).

The version shown in the top few rows of storeoperations>POSlanguage.dat does not show the expected 2.0.0163.

The solution was to restart the computer and repair RMS from the Windows control panel then re-apply any customised edits of the file.

The cause appears to be that something had prevented the hotfix from updating the file. EG: left the POS program open, left the POSlanguage file open, ran multiple hotfixes without restarting or healthy pause, forgot to run the hotfix as-administrator, didn't hold a rabbits foot, forgot how many times I have had this problem.

RE release notes - I don't think the notes mention that this file gets replaced (probably with every version).

    Hi,

If you have a store running SP4 normally without the text affected, just copy the three files MGRLanguage.dat, POSLanguage.dat and QSAdministratorLanguage.dat from the Store Operations Directory in Program Files and paste into into the POS which has problems, This will fix the problem.

Thankyou all for the responses. Our Microsoft partner has confimred this to be a known issue when dealing with customised language packs, which is what we have.

In order to fix I have had to delete the language packs before installing SP4, the update creates new ones. I then copy over new versions of these files from another upgraded store that have had our customisations re-applied.

    Cheers all.
