There is a mechanism for this thru client updates. However, if there are pre-requisites to install it can't be done be done thru client updates if I understand it correctly. Also, GP Utilites usually needs to be run after the client install which users may not be able to do. That is the downfall of using a program that is customizable, the updates have to account for every possible scenario. You may have two versions installed on your computer, for example, version 9 for production and version 2010 for testing. If you run version 9 and accidently log into the server with version 10, you wouldn't want it to automatically upgrade.

Francisco, that you for the suggestion.  I have noted the updates applied to the server and will try these on the client and let you know.

Perhaps MS can build in a means of comparing the DB and Client and automating this in the future rather than sending an error?

Copying other installs are great solution but If I were you, I would download the correct service pack and install it on the client computer.

    Zille,

On another client PC I did have to copy over select dictionary files and that resolved that issue.  For this computer I did try copying the GP folder from the server to the client and at that point it would not open at all.

    Thank you,

    Eric

    Hi Eric

Have you tried copying the folder across to over-ride the vanila install from a working machine ? This would pretty much resolve your issues on the client install.

    Regards
