We are contemplating allowing the ability to post individual JEs from the General - Transaction Entry screen. We are not a JE heavy company, so we don't see the need to create batches when we have to do a JE. What are the pros and cons of allowing this capability?

I've found that this one can cause some pain. When you post off the window the GL lines post to the open table but the header remains in the work table until you close the window which will then run the batch report. The batch name would be your user id. It will have one to many JE's in the batch and the act of closing the window prints the report and clears the work header table and completes the process.
When someone doesn't close the window and goes home or the session dies then those records still remain including a record in the batch header table. When the user logs in next they will get a message that a batch failed to post and I've not found a way for the user to clean it up themselves, others here might. No batch recovery for these. I end up validating things posted ok then delete the batch header and the work headers. Not my favorite thing to do, we do not allow this at our shop.
