We've been making progress in integrating our existing Dynamics CRM/Sales data with our new Business Central data but we have a conflict.
I've come to understand that the easiest solution to integrating is to make Account Table records for our customers in Dynamics Sales -regardless if they are companies or people (prior, only companies/orgs were Accounts). This will allow all of our CRM customers to have Business Central Customer Table records.
I still want to maintain the different between a "Person" and a "Company" or Business in Business Central however and Sales.
I created a Choice Column in the Account Table of Dynamics sales that clarifies Business or Person for record-keeping sake.
The problem is that all Accounts synced to Business Central from Sales are assumed to be Companies so they are set up with a Company Contact Card and not a Person Contact Card.
The only exception I've seen is if, for example, you had a Contact named Bob Smith in Dynamics Sales and he was already associated with Account XYZ in Sales, then the Contact is synced as a Person Contact Card into Business Central. Business Central will not sync a Contact from Sales unless it is associated with an Account record already in the first place, unless someone has information to the contrary. You then would need to create a Customer Card from the new "Bob Smith" Contact Card to have that customer as a customer in Business Central. Finally, the Bob Smith Customer Card syncs back to CRM as an Account Table record so you now have both a Bob Smith Contact and account in Sales and a Bob Smith customer in Business Central linked to a Person contact Card.
This requires though that the Contact in Sales first be linked to an Account in Sales or it won't work.
I'm wondering if I should create a Tem Account in Dynamics to link Contact records to that I want to sync to Business Central. This way, they will sync (since they don't without an associated Account) and I'd have a Person Contact in Business Central. I could then create the Customer Card from the contact so it would then be an Account. Then, after it syncs to Sales, i could write a workflow to make the Contact relate to that new Account record and set the new Account as a person.
I'm not sure if there's a better solution. I was planning on creating Accounts in Sales and syncing them to Business Central but the process of converting a "Company Customer" to a "Person Customer" in Business Central is a bit cumbersome and I'm not sure my users would follow the process.
So, in summary, I would like to have Customers (Contacts/Accounts) from Sales who are "people" to be Customers in Business Central who are "people" and no companies in a way that my users will be able to easily work with.
