I have posted a question(s) on this subject before over the last 3 years so have a fair idea around this. sorry for the length of this, but i want to fully explain and ensure my logic is right on this.
we have a set up to use full WAX advanced warehouse management as it is needed OUTSIDE of the production process. As part of this the production process at the site in question doesnt need any complex logical around RAF and putaway or production full stop as its very limited. due to this fact we have it set up to have RAF and putaway automatically on the work template all to one RECEIPT location. This is required to trigger a LP creation label ONLY. Then once the LP is created and then the workers scan using a stock movement to LP away into any location they feel, with no WAX putaway work as such. All works 100% as required and all is good with that.
The only variation from this is when you dont RAF and putaway a full pallet, which is pretty typical the world over from manufacturing. So for example a pallet (PL) of an item that is not a full PL on the unit conversion on the item e.g make LP 1 of item A 30 EA, 1 PL of item A is 50 EA, so needs another 20 EA to be a full pallet. So the next production run the team would like to "top up" the old already created LP 1 with only 30 EA on it with another 20 EA to make one PL of 50 EA. All on the same LP, ideally in our example LP 1.
The trouble is I believe the only way to consolidate the stock to the same already existing LP is using stock movement and i want to get some validation from the wider world I am right or not? A colleague is trying to say you should be able to use report and finished and putaway to do this, but all the info i find online is telling me you cannot do this. this is what happens when you try. here are my reasons and logic why it cant:
1) Even if i go to the mobile device for report and finished and putaway is set to allow the select "override target LP" to yes, practically it doesnt allow you to override the target LP even if the same batch number. Which makes sense as its a work type of finished goods putaway, and in effect you have already done this on the old LP as you created finsihed goods and putaway LP 1 into the warehouse already. So to me how can you create the same LP again and putaway, when already completed, we cant have the same LP existing twice in the same warehouse. is my logic right?
2) My colleague is telling people to not use the mobile device and use something in the production module to RAF (know nothing about production so cant say its name) stock to get around 1) trouble is the warehouse is set up advanced WHS as i said, so this still triggers the work to still be created. But the work DOESNT close automatically and remains OPEN. in my eyes and looking online, this makes sense as why would it allow two RAF and putaway for the same LP, same as my logic above in 1). Does my logic make sense?
3) of course 2) would occur as work will be created as it has to do as the warehouse is full advanced WMS, now way out of this. And then again if not processed using the mobile device it is bound to not work. is my logic correct?
To me the only way to process this would be to create a new LP of 20 and then use stock movement in the mobile menu device, to move the 20 EA to the old LP of 30 and make ubto 1 PL of 50 EA. And of course NOT USE RAF and putaway menu. is my logic right on this?
Hello,
When you are doing RAF from the mobile app the system will ask for a non-existing license plate, this is the design of the whs app.
On client, the functionality is a bit different, on Productions orders form - here you can RAF by specifying an existing LP.
Another option is to not create work each time you do the RAF, this work is not required in all situations.
See this link:
docs.microsoft.com/.../warehouse-work-policies
Set a Work policy to block the creation of put away work, then RAF to the same LP using the client, not the app.
There are also some new features in the last releases, one of them is License plate for reporting as finished added to the Job Card Device, see this link :
docs.microsoft.com/.../report-finished-job-device
Per my understanding, this feature allows to RAF to an existing license plate.
Thanks,
Alina
