Dash Board creation - Power BI tiles

Hi,

I'm new to creating Dash Boards in Dynamics CRM.

Would I need Power BI Pro to enable me to add Power BI Tiles in to a Dashboard? Either when creating Power BI Dashboard or D365 Dashboard

I have Power BI desktop but when I try to add a tile and sign in with my Power BI Desktop credentials this screen appears

Hi,

Thank you for your query.

To embed Power BI in Dynamics 365, you must have a powerbi.com user.

Power BI Desktop is a tool to design PBI Report and Dashboards, these reports/dashboards must be published on PowerBI.com.

Only the published PowerBI content is shown in the Dynamics 365 Dashboard tile.

If current user do not have a PowerBI user, this login screen is presented.

For your testing, you can create a Trial Power BI account.

Hi,

Thank you for your prompt and insightful reply.

So going forward after publishing report / Dashboards on PowerBI.com these can then be embedded into the tile on the D365 CRM dashboard, with out the need for a Power BI Pro license?

Just one other question. When I'm customising a dashboard through advanced setting the Power BI tile does not display. Is this not available or again is a Power BI pro license or Power BI user required??

Hi,

Yes, you at least need a Power BI Pro license.

For your second question, I assume you are trying to customize a Power BI Dashboard in legacy customization interface (access through Advanced Settings).

Please note, some of the customization features are not available in the legacy interface, this has nothing to do with Power BI License.

Hi,

Thanks for confirming. I know this is a bit of subject but would you know if Power BI Pro is also required for the Centre of Excellence?

Hi,

I am not an expert in the Centre of Excellence, however, any integration with Power BI requires that the Dashboard/Report is published on PowerBI.com.

And to publish and share a report/dashboard on PowerBI requires at least a Power BI Pro license.
