License Plate Label Fields Blank from Production floor Report as Finished

When a production order is reported as finished from the production floor execution screen we get License plate labels that are missing fields that we would expect to be populated. Work is created for this putaway task and has an assigned put to location but the license plate labels data shows those fields as blank and do not print on the physical label.

When we report as finished from the advanced warehouse app for other processes like subcontracted work we do see all of these fields populated in the data and on the label.

Are we missing something somewhere? Having the location directives missing from the label is causing issues with putaway work being executed productively from our production out locations. I'm hopeful there's just a config we've missed somewhere.

The license plate data shown appears to be the same before/after the work is executed. When Reported as finished from the Advanced warehouse app the expected/proposed location is shown in the to location. In both scenarios a location is shown on the work that is generated from the report as finished process.

@DP-25070112-0 were you able to make and progress with this? We're running into similar issues. Hoping to display the Work Pool on the label that is generated from Reporting as Finished via Production Floor Execution, but it seems the label generation logic is run before work is created (which is not the case when RAF'ing using the Advanced warehouse app)

Hi,

If labels are printed before work is created, they won't include details such as the to location for the license plate — this is confirmed Microsoft behavior. The fix is to move label printing to after work creation by inserting a Print step in your Finished goods putaway work template, which ensures the Work ID and to location are resolved before the label is generated.

Hi Shaluma,

Are you able to point to any documentation that confirms this Microsoft behavior? From what I can tell, this is only the case when Reporting As Finished via Production Floor Execution. When Reporting as Finished via the Warehouse Management App, the work creation logic is ran BEFORE label generation logic.

Additionally, adding the print step to the work template doesn't help much because we would like the label to print right away when the inventory becomes available. When using a print step on the work template, you can't trigger the label to print until the Pick step is completed, which results in inventory being left un-labeled in the warehouse until somebody starts the finished goods putaway work.

@Shaluma the label printing needs to happen before work is executed in order to facilitate the completing of the finished goods putaway work. Printing a label as part of executing that work wouldn't work because you need to work label in order to execute it. This suggestion is not valid for this issue.

This being confirmed Microsoft behavior also makes no sense for two reasons.

1) Purchase and Transfer order receiving work the same way. The registration of the prodcut happens, it hits work templates, locations directives and creates the work. The label is then generated with the fields that we're missing.
2) When the RAF is completed on the Advanced Warehouse management app those fields are populated. When it's completed from Production floor execution they are not. If this was confirmed intended behavior the two methods would work identically.

Here's the best workaround I found. If you're using Label layouts instead of document routing layouts.

Create a Custom License Plate Label Data Source. First join the License Plate Label (which is where it's missing the info) to the License Plate. You can't join directly to the work table for example because the work ID is blank in the Label table. Then from the License plate you can join to other tables such as the work table.

Then you can use the Method from the work header to show the final put location. We weren't using label layout templates when I originally posted this so only recently realized this method could work around the gap. I haven't tested the join in the screen shot for serial numbers as we print separate labels for that currently and I set the data source to outer join so having it there hasn't impacted our printing.

Your suggestion seems to work. On the 'Label layout data source' if you configure your data source so that the join goes from 'License Plate Label' -> 'License Plate' -> 'Work' using an Outer Join (rather than going straight from 'License Plate Label' straight to 'Work'), it appears to work. Thanks for the input!

Hi,

Can you confirm which report as finished mobile menu you are using?

1 - Report as finished

2 - Report as finished and put away

Also share if the Print label check mark is checked in your case?

If print label is checked and you are using report as finished and put away in that case the RAF and put away happens in one go which updates the two locations as I noticed some time back.

@Sagar Suman you misunderstand the issue. When we RAF from the warehouse management app all fields in the license plate label are populated as expected and the label prints as expected.

We would prefer to RAF from production floor execution since we are logging time to production steps. If you RAF at the end of a job there some of the fields are not getting populated to the license plate label. The license plate data is complete and contains the information so you can achieve a correct result joining to additional tables to get the fields that fail to populate there.
