I have average costing setup as follows:

So, it is by item and not item + location

I have 2 locations - M8B and M8C

I have gone back and done a simple test

4/31/21 - Item journal of 021TEST - 26 @ 43.9915 to M8B and 288 @ 43.9915 @ M8C

On the item master, the Avg Cost is 43.9915

And on the inventory valuation

Breakdown by location

Now, I did 2 item journals on 5/5/21 - with 2 slightly different costs for M8B location only

72 @ 36,5763 and 36 @ 36.5761 (mirroring production)

Now, I see on the item master an average cost of 42.09374 which is what I'd expect.

I see that on the inventory valuation as well

But in the breakdown by location

I see 2 different Unit Cost - is that not the average cost? Should they not be the same for both locations since I have the parameter set as Item only and NOT Item + Location?

Hi

I find a note (but I am not sure if it is accurate or not) that mentioned if Inventory Valuation report runs with selecting break down for Location it will show the cost for that location regardless of setup in Inventory Setup. But for all posting system use one Avg cost if "Item" selected in inventory setup. But this note could be wrong.
