If we go in for a hosted CRM solution, would customization would be difficult and/or limited vs. a on-premise solution? Also, what do I need to confirm with the hosting service to ensure smooth customization procedure?

    Hosted CRM have limited functionality as compare to on presmise.Also it very from vendor to vendor.Like u can't put plugin or custom code etc.

    There are a number of options for hosted Dynamics CRM 4.0. There are partners out there who will host your Dynamics CRM 4.0 system on their servers. This takes away the need to manage your own servers. In addition these hosted systems from partners give you maximum control over the system and you can deploy code as well. Microsoft also has a hosted solution called Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online.

    If you are a company who sells CRM then you could also start hosting Dynamics CRM for your customer by using our multi tenant features in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0
