Morning All,

I have created a Job Id field in Opportunity and would like to have that field show up in Cases. What is the best way to do this?

We don’t currently have any links Opportunity and Cases and I can create one.

I would when we link the Cases to the Opportunity it to populate the Job Number.

Thank you,

    hi Shahriar,

You need to make relation between Case and Opportunity and then use quick view in Case form screen to show Job data associated with Opportunity.

Refer this think to create quick view -

    garethtuckercrm.com/.../crm-2013-new-features-quick-view-forms

Let me know if you find any issue.

Please verify my answer if you find it valuable.

    Thanks,

    Sandeep

Hi Sandeep , thank you for the response.

I tried following the guide but when go to insert the View in Cases its not there.

I created the view on the Opportunity (were the job number is).

    Any suggestions.

    Hi Shahriar

Another possibility is to create a real-time workflow running on the case. I guess you created a 1 to many relationship between Opportunity and Cases - then you can run the workflow as soon as the case-record has been created (realtime workflow).

When you hit "add step" you can then choose "update record". Afterwards you can easily update your case - moreover your field "Job-Id".

Please verify my answer if it helps!

    Regards

    Andrin

Quick views are only available with lookups, As I understand you have Job ID in opportunity and you want to fill this value in Job number when a new case is generated for opportunity, if this is correct, you have to do two things:-

    1. Set system mapping under 1:N relationship between opp and case, and select both side of fields - this will work when case will be created from opportunity. you can take reference from here: itsolutions.bdo.ca/.../using-field-mapping-in-microsoft-dynamics-crm-to-copy-data-between-associated-records

    2. Write js code to pull this id from opportunity based on the opp lookup and set case field- this will be required when user will try to create or associated case to opportunity.

Let me know if my understanding is not correct.

    Thanks
