We have a need to validate email addresses in Dynamics CRM. Is there some type of email validation feature in CRM that can test an email address to determine if it's valid? If not, are there plug-ins available for CRM that provide this functionality? We currently utilize a couple of email scrubbing providers for this purpose but it is done outside of CRM and is a batch process. We need to make this as near real-time as possible and within Dynamics.

It is only possible to confirm the format of an email is correct OOB. There is no built-in functionality in CRM to check if an email address is a real and valid email address. I am not aware of any free/open-source plugins in codeplex that can do this.

Hi Vikrams,

The only way you can do using Out of the box is, by creating workflow on email, for outgoing email, once created.

Then, wait until the email status = Sent.

Then update the value "is Valid" to Yes.

If failed, then try again the actions.

You might need a module to trigger sending email, for example: you have contact entity or custom entity with email address, then run a workflow to create email, once you email created, then it will trigger your another workflow.

This needs time for testing since the emails need time to be sent as well, and make sure also that your outgoing email is working, this to help reducing suspicion if got failed, so it is not failed because of outgoing profile, but because it is not a valid email address.

And, you should monitor as well, let's say failed, then should try again to send.

Have you evaluated Sensis? They have a email validation tool as part of their product stack. Works seamlessly with Dynamics CRM.

Vikrams, check out the plug-in from Trillium Software. In addition to address validation, it performs email validation and de-duplication. Good luck!
