Item weight visibility in Item Ledger Entries

Hi everyone,

I have a question related to the Item Weight.

Since it is possible to set up the item weight in the Item card, I was wondering if it was possible to keep trace of this information in the Item Ledger Entries tab. This because in addition to the Base Unit of Measure qty, my need is to display in inventory the related Item weight, that is currently not shown.

Thanks in advance for your answer.

I’d verify if you have the free Power BI license first. Simple enough to make the report and you could then have it available in BC as well as the online service. Failing that Jet Reports is very popular with BC end users as it’s available in Excel, making it very familiar

Thank you very much for your answer Josh, very appreciated!

Do you have any suggestion about the most suitable reporting tool to make this happen?

From a reporting stand point you could achieve the result. Most reporting tools will enable you to make a relationship with the item table and the item ledger entry and you can then calculate to get the total weight for the overall qty.

    Thanks for your answer!

Is there no other option to display both quantities at the end of the process that doesn't require a software customization?

This could be achieved with a modification. New field at page and table level, followed by a codeunit with an event subscriber to populate it. If it is crucial detail you may consider putting in checks so the data is available. Also a retrospective way to apply the data to old entries. You could have the field editable at table level but not at page and you can import the historic values based on a current calculation
