Can only two decimal places for quantity be displayed?

Our inventory is setup to go out 4 decimal places.  Currently, our modified SOP Blank Invoice form is displaying the volume with the 4 decimals, but we want to display only two decimals.  I thought this would be easy, but any format that I choose in Report Writer does not change the display (yes, I have security to the modified version).  When I go into the report within Report Writer and I double click on the field, the "Report Field Options" window shows (1) DLR_RBS0_STR is the selection for Format, (2) with the Display Type as Data, and (3) the Format Field is selected as Decimal Places QTYS.

My assumption is the Format Field (Decimal Places QTYS) is overriding any selection chosen for the field FORMAT on this screen.  Is that true?  If yes, then do you know if I can change the field to display only two decimal places for the quantity?  If no, any suggestions on how to get two decimal places to be shown?  Or, is this not possible?

Thank you for the suggestion/support.

Best regards,

Dale

Yes, the Format Field takes over to my understanding. If you remove the Format Field setting, the field should respect the other data settings.

Be aware that the setting "Relative Decimal Position" means to take the number of decimals in the Windows settings. If you put 2 in decimal digits and also have Relative Decimal Position marked, you will get 4 decimal places.

If you change the format, then ANY data-type using that data type is likewise changed. you might consider creating your own format. If you do that, just remember that the created resource will not export in a package file.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    Leslie,

Thank you for your post.  To be sure that I understand your last paragraph, if Microsoft did not create an out-of-the-box Format which will allow for only 2 decimal places to be shown, then I can create one, but that user defined format will only work for Report Writer Standard printed reports and will not work for the Word templates (which is what we are using)?

    Best regards,

    Leslie,

I was able to get the document (in the Word Template version) to display the two decimal places.  Thank you for the your post as it helped me see how Report Writer works.

    Best regards,

I guess i'm still confused.  I have gp10.0 and we have a calculated field with 2 decimals places and we want it to display 3 places.  When we make our own it doesn't display anything.  Any suggestions
