Hi all,

we tried to update Nav 2018 to BC On-prem but we have had some problems so we decided to install a new enviroment with BC and then import data.

We have an enviroment Nav 2018 with 1 year of data and we need to move data from nav 2018 to nav BC; anyone could suggest me how to solve?

I have the same question (0)

    You can do:

    1) a real full upgrade: docs.microsoft.com/.../upgrading-to-business-central-on-premises

    2) use rapidstart packages for exporting/importing data

    3) use direct import via SQL (select/insert)

Hi and thanks. we already follow that link but we got many errors in step merge… and our db has not many modifies. About rapidstart ok, I'll read about. A question bout sql: but we have to do insert for each table or there is a procedure that run and write in all table? Thanks a lot.

Yes, via SQL you need to create your own queries for selecting data from source table and then insert into destination table. There's work, but for on-premise big data migrations it can be a really performant solution. Obviosuly, there's no automatic field validation triggered, so you need to be sure for the data that you migrate.

There are two different upgrade paths to Business Central, depending on the version you are upgrading from. For Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0 and Microsoft Dynamics NAV 4.0, you must go through Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013. For Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 SP1 and Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2, you can choose to go through Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 or Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2015

    Through Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013

Upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013.

For more information, see Upgrading to Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 in Previous Versions Documentation.

Upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2018.

For more information, see Upgrading to Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2018.

    Upgrade to Business Central.

    Upgrade the Application Code

Upgrade the Data: Single-Tenant Deployment or Upgrade the Data: Multitenant Deployment.
