Delegate Access

Hi,

We have a user who is a VP, he will not be using the system rather has a secretary who will be using it on his behalf.  In this case the VP cannot give his AD id to secretary as she will be able to open everything from mail box to other applications of his, how can we give delegate access of VP to the secretary.

    Secretary should have her own account with "VP" privileges or should have records shared by VP. This will be also in line with licensing.

    There are ways to get specific data, but you didn't specify.

    Thanks Tomasz, so what you are suggesting is give the secretary equal access as VP in the system which is what we follow now as well, but just curious to find if there is any delegate access that i can provide where the secretary can use the VP ID but a delegate password to access the application, which is something common in other appliactions like Peoplesoft

    There is no such thing in Dynamics CRM. User is always authenticated to it's profile (AD/cloud), and performs actions "in his scope". There are some tricks like programmic impersonation, running plugins on different user accounts, but "out of the box" is: sharing, teams, and privileges.

    Hi Tomasz, I found a roles named Delegate can it help in some way? or its just another roles.

    This has just privilege to "Impersonate Another User", and must be used with different role. Impersonation can be done using SDK and programming:

    community.dynamics.com/.../act-on-behalf-of-another-user
