RE: Error CRM 2013 - Generic Error

    Hi,

I had the same problem and I found that the problem was caused by Sophos anti-virus.

    System info:

    Windows 7

    IE 10

    CRM 2011 (on-premise) Rollup 16

    Steps to resolve:

Open Internet Explorer > Settings > Add-on management

Find "Sophos web content scanner" (or replace with own anti-virus scanner add-on) and disable.

    Restart Internet Explorer

The problem should be solved now.

    No, not it.  Try again...

Here's what ended up working in my case:

For me, I noticed that it said Some roles weren't installed when I went to the Deployment Managers home screen.  After clicking that it said that the Organization Web Service wasn't installed.  I ran the installer and it showed that the Organization Web Service was indeed installed, so I did a repair on the installation and that made that error go away.  YMMV as it seems that there may be several different reasons that error appears.
