How to make multiple copies of a single Purchase Order

(1) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 17
My company is ordering 160 truckloads of product from the same vendor.

Each truckload needs to be its own purchase order.

I entered a PO and now I would like to copy it 159 times.  Is there a way to make 159 copies without making 159 individual copies?

Thanks
Michael

    Hi
I don't remember this functionality existing, but you could try to code something that allows you to iterate as many times as you need using the standard document copy report.
You should review report 492 Copy purchase document.

you could consider using blanket purchase order or recurring purchase line depending on your needs.

the first is used for ordering a large quantity of items over a period, allowing for multiple releases against a single purchase order

Recurring purchase lines are used for items that are purchased on a regular basis. This helps in automating the creation of purchase lines in purchase orders.

Many user also use copy documents to copy existing PO to make their work more efficient.

    Hi Michael,

You can only use functionality of Copy Document which allows you to copy an existing order, Invoice, receipt to a new Purchase order.

If it's so common requirement, you can create a wrapper over purchase documents Template.

This will allow user to copy a Purchase order from template.

But only do it, if its common situation.

You can also use configuration packages. If you created 1 purchase order, export the purchase order header and lines to excel, copy the 1st PO 159 times and then import the configuration package back.

Hi, I also recommend using Configuration Package, which is much faster than Copy Document.
More details: How to Export and Import Data (Using Configuration Packages)

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.
