Licensing for Quote Management in CRM 2013 on-premise

Hello,

We are implementing Dynamics CRM 2013 on-premise and I have questions about licensing. We have users who have no need of using the sales process, campaigns, products, contracts, etc. - but must be able to generate a quote from a opportunity products (they can view the opportunity). It seems that basic license covers all of the features they need except quote generation - however, some of the professionally-licensed users will be restricted from quote generation, so in theory, all permissions would balance out.

Is there anyone else who has experienced a juxtaposition of permissions/licensing such as this one?

Thank you!

You need a Pro licence to use Opportunities, as well as Quotes.

As per other responses, Professional license is required for Quote Management even if you do not require opportunity management.

Hi Mahadeo, would you be able to explain Sales Automation in details? What exactly does this cover?

Sales automation includes every part of your process from a Lead being qualified into an Opportunity until you send an Invoice. Quotes, Orders, adding products etc is all part of sales management / automation.

    Hi Bansri,

Sales Automation covers, automatically convert lead to Account, Contact or Opportunity..

Then Opportunity would be converted into Quote, quote to Order and Order to Invoice for final sales.

CRM has some flows which will manage and convert sales process from one step / stage to another stage.

Like You are getting lead from some website, then you might need to convert those leads to Opportunity /contact/account, then Opportunity will be converted to Quote, when customer fulfill with quote, then order will be placed, you can create order from quote, and finally invoice will be created.

Addition to this opportunity, Quote, order , invoice are associated with products, You can create products, define price list for products, create product group (product family / product bundle), apply discount, add  sales tax etc.. all these items are covered under sales automation.
