I have several custom entities and I require the ability to attach PDFs etc to the records. I know you can add them to Account records etc, but how do you enable this functionality on custom entities please?

Go to Settings>Customizations>Customize the System>Entities>the entity you want it enabled for.

    On the General tab

    Tick the Notes checkbox

Save and then publish your changes.

You can then add a Notes section to the form view.

Make the section at least 6 rows high as otherwise you won't see the button to attach the attachments.

Save and then publish your changes.

    Hello MDS,

After adding note on the custom entity form, then you can add an attachment.

    Hope this helps,

    Abed.

    Hi MDS,

add the notes grid to your form. A note can have attachments and has a standard file explorer.

Great! Turns out it was already enabled on the entity, I just needed to add it to the form.

Is it possible to remove any of the Communication & Collaboration bits? I don't really want to see Activities in the form?

Sure, from Activity Tab Properties select Note on default tab :)

    Hi MDS,

You can default it to Notes:

Click on the section on the form (in form edit)

Set the default tab to Notes.

You can, with Jscript, hide the Posts and/or Activities.

is there any other way to do it without notes?

i would like to do it with a relationship, is that possible?

I didn't realize all you had to do is click in the notes field, thanks!

Awesome advice. I do have the Notes (includes attachments) setting enabled on the custom entity's main settings page. However, I do not see the  Notes button on the Form editor. Any ideas why?

I'm not completely sure but I get the impression that Notes is included as a stand alone module that gets included on the entity level from the general tab instead of something added to the form from the editor.
