Lean Manufacturing (value added) Item Model FIFO

In lean manufacturing why I can't use products with inventory model FIFO? I tried to set up a value flow where BOM products are used with inventory model FIFO. If I use average costs or similar it works well. But not for products with FIFO, probably LIFO as well, valuation methodology. I can't find a particular documentation.
