MR missing account analysis

hi folks

is there a way to get MR missing account analysis to actually tell me the accounts that are missing? the whole string not just parts of it?

it is great that MR tells me that it thinks an element of a particular segment is missing, but which accounts actually combine with that segment?  Without it I am still at a loss to know where to look to add the element.  Is the element missing from the tree, is it missing on the row format, is it missing from both.

this feature appears to be seriously misnamed.

If you use more than one segment - it does show all the segments missing from a report as well as it identifies it is missing from a row or a tree - this could be a very long list - it would be a great option in future versions to be able to print this to paper, right now I write down all the missing values - this is time consuming.

Matt is correct in his description of this feature. You can get a list of all missing accounts by building block in the default view, or can change the view to be by account value. There are visual indicators to let you know if the account is missing from the Row Definition or Reporting Tree Definition. Please refer to the video blog posts below for detailed information on how to use Missing Account Analysis.

I don't believe there is a way for it to show the whole account string but I do think the tool can be useful.  The top half of the Missing Account Analysis screen specifies the building block and the bottom half specifies the dimension.  So in the top half, you would have one building block selected, either a row, column, or tree.  Whatever dimensions are listed in the bottom half are what MR thinks is missing from the selected building block.

Also, you can easily tell the type of building block (if you don't already know) by the icon next to the Exclude checkbox.  You can also click on that icon to quickly open up the building block to add the missing account and then refresh the Missing Account Analysis window and it would then go away.
