Hi,

We have a custom entity which is displayed under activities. But when I try to assign the read only access for this custom entity under security roles, I am not able to find.

Any advise is highly appreciated.

Thanks!

    Hi,

Privileges of entities of type activities are only customizable through the Activity privileges(i.e. you have the same privileges to read a Email, appointment, task,...)

    Hi,

You should create security rules for the whole Activity entity, which will also be applied to other activities like phonecalls, tasks etc. You can't add individual security roles for activity entity.

Thanks Francesco, I only gave read access to the Activity entity in the organization level  but when the user opens CRM he is getting- Invalid User authorized, the user authentication passed to the platform is not valid

do i need to give access to anyother records like something mandatory for the user to see this.

    Thanks

    Hi James,

the error "Invalid User authorized, the user authentication passed to the platform is not valid" is different than the once in this thread. Are you getting a new error message?

This looks more like user is unable to access CRM.

    Refer the following threads-

    community.dynamics.com/.../218488

    community.dynamics.com/.../177947

    community.dynamics.com/.../223027

PS: It is always better to open a new thread for new issues as it keeps the thread clean and inline with the actual issues/ questions.

    Hope this helps

    Hi Ravi,

This is related to this thread. I have the requirement to give read access to the Activity entity only and also I understand if I give read access it will give read access to other things like phone, case which is fine with me.

aso, i created a brand new security role with read access to activity entity but when I give this role to the user then the error comes.

If I give him the oob security role then there is no problem

    Please advise

    Thanks

    Hi James,

You created new security role from scratch or you copied it from any existing oob role? There are other permissions as well which could be required.

I would suggest you to create a copy of salesperson role and then change the permissions accordingly?

    Hope this helps.

    Hi James,

As Ravi said. The better way to create a new brand security roles is to copy an existing one. It is really difficult to create a new one from scratch because to login you need a lot miscellenous privileges

    Hi Jamese,

you need to set minimum required access permission.

Please check if user role has the following privileges:
