Use a different exchange rate when importing historical documents

Hi gurus,

I will be importing into a custom entity historical financial transactions that have amounts in a currency other than my base currency.

As it is right now when I import the file the system automatically sets the exchange rate to the value that is currently defined in the currency table. I DO NOT want that. I want to be able to import the transactions and SET the exchange rate so that I can keep the historical context.

When I look at the import templates there is no way for me to set the exchange rate as that CRM does not allow me to access the field. I do not even have access to the exchange rate field in the UI.

How can I achieve the desired scenario of importing the amounts with a different exchange rate?

Thank you!

    Hi Richard,

we had the same problem and were not able to achieve it because as far as we have seen you cannot set the exchangerate and we've tried a lot with different datamigration tools and connectors (e.g. Scribe).

In my opinion you have to use different field pairs (amount and amount_base) for amount in your base currency and the target currency.

If you want to use e.g. the standard entities like order it's a little bit more difficult because you have to use the Standard amount fields. In this case the goal is to fill the amount_base field (in our environmt euro) with the correct value (because we want to use it for statistics) and use a custom new_amount field to display the value in the desired currency. In the end you'll use the standard amount_base and the custom new_amount (not the new_amount_base) field.

    Example:

Historical values are exchangerate 1,5, 1.500,- USD and 1.000,- EUR

    Current exchangerate = 1,2

    Fields:

Standard: amount = 1.200,- (wrong - do not use)

    Standard: amount_base  = 1.000,- EUR

    Custom: new_amount = 1.500,-  USD

Custom: new_amount_base = 1.250,- EUR (wrong - do not use)
