Activity pointer question

HI,

I have a doubt about activitypointer. We have a custom entity 'Calls' which is modified from "Case' entity.

Calls entity has one to many relationship with 'tasks' entity. So now if I want to retrieve all the tasks associated to Calls entity, can I use activitypointer since this is a custom entity?

    Hi,

Every activity record (custom activities included) has both a record in the activitytpointer and entity table. If you use activitypointer you will get the activityid and basic details about the activity. The activityid will be the same on both tables.

    Hope this helps,

    Scott

Yes.  Activitypointer is a way to hold a collection of activities, which could be of different types.

The activitypointer only holds the guid and a few other details.

The activitypointer is a complex type because it can hold different activities.

    Hi CRM Programmer,

"We have a custom entity 'Calls' which is modified from "Case' entity."

--> If you modify the Case entity, so it is not a custom entity, but it is a Case entity, but you rename the Display Name from Case to Call or Calls..

You can either using ActivityPointer and then use ActivityType = Task, it has RegardingObjectId field to store the link of relationship and then RegardingObjectTypeCode to store the linked entity code, or you can use Task entity as well if you want to retrieve additional info, such as new custom fields you created in the task entity.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks.
