Year End Wage File for Dynamics V 10

I understand that there will be no year end wage file downloads for V. 10 so we will have to update to 2013.   I only have a week to get this done and we are afraid to upgrade to a new version before running W2s and our payroll, which needs to be done by Wednesday.  Is there a work around so I can run my W2s and payroll before we upgrade?

    Penny,

Did you run payroll year end updates with Tax Table on GP10? If yes then print your w2 and then you upgrade.

    Thanks

You can run your year  end close and then update your tax tables manually before proceeding with your 2014 payroll. You might need to adjust placement of the w-2 if it doesn't line up just right with your preprinted forms.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

From what I understand there are no year end updates to run for GP10, which is my problem.  Is it possible to run W2s without doing the year end update?

thanks.  I don't use preprinted W2s so that won't be a problem.   So, what I'm seeing is go ahead and run the year end close, run my W2s, manually update my tax tables (I don't think there are any changes right now) and run my 2014 payroll.   Would I then download the year end after I've upgraded or just leave it alone?

After you've upgraded, I think you should be on the current service pack, which will include the year-end update. What you need to be sure you do is to download the 2014 tax tables.

It has come up on this board and others that there is a problem with the year-end wage file if you have any employees who make more than 200,000. The wage file only grabs the 1.45% rate for Medicare, so when you print your forms W-2, the most that it will print for Medicare withholding is $2,900, no matter how much was actually withheld. You won't see this in the Edit W-2 window, only when you print the forms. The easiest way to fix it is to change the value of the FICAMWLM column in the UPR10100 table to 0.00000. If you do not have access to SQL, or any other way to directly change the table, you can edit your tax table such that there is no limit to the 1.45% rate.

You'll need to delete the row containing the 2.35% tax rate, and then maximize the limit on the 1.45%, or delete both rows and then put the 1.45% back in with no wage limits at all. After you create the year-end wage file, change the rates back so that it will withhold properly.

The FICAM table would look like one of the two images below after the modification:

It looks like this if you remove the wage limit:

I understand that there have been changes to the withholding rates for 2014, but I don't have that in front of me right now.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

Thank you.   We don't have anyone who made over $200,000 so that won't be a problem.  I have a copy of the 2014 Pub. 15 so I can work from that for the 2014 payroll.    Thank you so much for your help, I feel like we have a little breathing room now as I was afraid to attempt an upgrade before a payroll with so little time.
