Stop wave processing in case work creation failed

There is an option available in Wave template "Continue wave processing when work creation fails" which I understand is to control if wave processing needs to be stopped if work creation fails.

I have disabled this check box but still wave processing is continuing even though work creation failed for one of the shipment line.

Can anyone tell me how wave processing can be stopped i.e., stop creation of work for entire wave even if one line fails work creation.
I have the same question (1)

Good morning, afternoon, or evening :) depending on your location!

The issue you're encountering, where wave processing continues despite disabling the "Continue wave processing when work creation fails" option, could be due to specific configurations or system behavior in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management. Here are some steps and considerations to address this:

    1. Verify Wave Template Configuration
    • Double-check the Wave Template settings to ensure the "Continue wave processing when work creation fails" checkbox is indeed disabled.
    • Confirm that the wave template being used for the specific shipment line is the correct one and matches your intended configuration.
    2. Check Work Creation Failure Handling
    • Dynamics 365 may still process other lines in the wave if the failure is isolated to a single line. This behavior ensures that other valid lines are not delayed.
    • To stop the entire wave, you may need to implement custom logic or use a Wave Method that explicitly halts processing when any line fails.
    3. Review Wave Processing Logs
    • Check the Wave Processing Logs to identify why the system is continuing. Look for any errors or warnings related to the failed line.
    • Logs can provide insights into whether the failure is being treated as critical or non-critical.
    4. Use Wave Execution Notifications
    • Enable Wave Execution Notifications to monitor the status of wave processing. This can help you identify and address issues in real-time.
    5. Customization Option
    • If the out-of-the-box functionality does not meet your requirements, consider working with a developer to customize the wave processing logic. A custom method can be added to stop the wave entirely when any line fails.
    6. Test in a Sandbox Environment
    • Replicate the issue in a sandbox environment to confirm whether it’s a configuration issue or a system limitation.
    • Test with different wave templates and scenarios to identify patterns.

    Hope this helps!

    Good day,

Have you configured a 'Location directive failure'?

If not, could you configure one and activate the parameter 'Stop work on location directive failure'?

Path: Warehouse management > Setup > Warehouse management parameters

    Best regards,
    Laurens van der Tang

Thank you Laurens and Holly for your replies.

We have configured the setup to stop work creation and this is the reason work is not getting created for that line but it is processing other lines and creating work.

The main issue is that the behaviour is not consitant at all, some times the shipment is removed from the wave and some times it will change the status of the wave to released even though one or more lines are not processed in the wave.

    Hello Akshay,

My suggestion is to raise bug with Microsoft.

    Best regards,
