Can the attachment be added in a task which is created in workflow?

We are using CRM 2011. Can a document (e.g. word, excel saved in Sharepoint) be attached to the task created in a CRM workflow?  The reason for such request is, the workflow is an approval workflow.  Therefore, we would like to attach all related supporting documents into the approval task, so that the approver can review all information during his/her approval.  Do we need to create plug-in or javascript to fulfil this?  I want to check if there is any simpler way.

Thanks.

This cannot be achieved with the default customization. You must connect with one of our partners for this, a plugin is required.

You can attach documents to a task that is created in a workflow by doing the following:

    1. In the workflow, create the task.

    2. Create a note in the workflow and associate it (see Steps 3-5) with the task you created in Step 1.

    3.  Click in the "Regarding" text box.

    4.  On the right-hand side of the screen under Form Assistant, click on the "Look for:" drop-down list and scroll to the bottom of the list.  You should see the task you created in Step 1 under the "Local Values" section.  Select the task.

    5.  In the next drop-down list, select the "Task" item.

    6. Attach your file to the note.  You can only attach one file to a note, but you can create multiple notes that are associated with the task, so create an individual note for each document you need to attach.

    7. Run the workflow.  Open the task after it is created.  You should see your notes attached to the task with one document attached to each note.
